The Business Tourism Company is a well-established international African based tourism consultancy specialising in destination development, destination management, destination branding and tourism marketing strategies.
Over the past 10 years The Business Tourism Company has conducted more than 50 diverse tourism advisory and training projects in around 15 countries in Africa, Europe, Australia and the Caribbean.
We have worked with both public and private sector tourism clients including international tourism agencies, tourism ministries, Destination Marketing Organisations - both national and regional, conservation organisations, convention centres and hotels.

Rick Taylor's credentials cover the management, marketing and growth of big brands and destinations throughout a 20 year advertising career followed by 20 years in tourism, dealing at the highest levels of international, national, provincial and local government and commerce. He has a demonstrable track record in providing innovative and marketing led strategic solutions, combined with strong business development, communications, leadership and team building skills.
During his advertising career, Rick was Managing Director of Johannesburg based International Advertising Agencies - Barker McCormac and McCann Erickson.
After owning his own hotel, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Cape Metropolitan Tourism and the Cape Town Convention Bureau for seven years and later as Head of the National Convention Bureau for South African Tourism.
Rick has sat on a number of National and International Boards in the tourism arena for example: Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA); Cape Film Commission; South African Meetings Industry Federation (SAMIF); South African Federation of Convention Cities (SAFCC); Great Wine Capitals of the World; BestCities.net; Destination Marketing Association International (USA); Marketing Federation of South Africa (MFSA) and the International Advisory Committee of the French Tourism Board (Maison de la France). He has had many international speaking assignments on the subjects of destination marketing and the business tourism sector.
Rick has been CEO of The Business Tourism Company since 2005 with assignments in Southern Africa, West Africa, East Africa, Europe, Australia and Trinidad & Tobago. He holds a B.Com degree from the University of Lausanne.
Ms. Colette Taylor
Colette spent some 20 years in the advertising industry in Johannesburg, South Africa during which time she was appointed MD of an independent Media Planning and Buying Agency. She was co-owner of a hotel in Cape Town and served as Chair of the National Women's Business Organisation, Cape Town (NAWBO).
Colette is a partner in The Business Tourism Company. She has strong writing and organisational skills; knowledge of tourism marketing and development; management of logistics; research; planning; developing and delivering presentations; technical skills in marketing, advertising, financial services and the tourism industry; management of budgets and contractual compliance; client services / liaison; computer skills; human capital management; and others.
